Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 8th 2015: BRVM equity market cap lost XOF 75 billion, indices drop
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 278.86 to 274.10 points, a drop of 1.71%. BRVM Composite index lost 1.10% to 270.46 against 273.47 points previously. Likewise, the equity market capitalization lost XOF 74.3 billion to close at XOF 6,673.82 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,748.12 billion.
In term of market activity, today trading activity declined (higher) in term volume (turnover) traded compared to previous day. The total volume was recorded at 331,173 compared to volume of 1.129 million recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 864.463 million (against XOF 240.342 million recorded at yesterday trading session). Out of the 39 listed securities 28 were traded in 228 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 307,525 traded shares (accounted for almost 93 percent of the total volume). and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 348.002 million (accounted of nearly 40 percent). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 15.91 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.55.
Looking at the market price movers’, out of the 25 traded securities there were 12 price gainers, 10 price losers and 6 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end on a positive note. At the same time, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 276,125 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.14 percent to conclude at XOF 75,000. Likewise, NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 5.80 percent to settle at XOF 5,800 and BANK OF AFRICA D’IVOIRE added 4.21 percent with a closing price of XOF 99,000.
On the other hand, UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 7.50 percent to trade at XOF 30,155 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 49,490. Still on losers’ chart, SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo plummeted by 3.88 percent and 3.64 percent to close at XOF 25,655 and XOF 53.00 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, industry sector index, industry, public utilities and financial services sector indices fell by 1.07 percent, 1.56 percent and 1.52 percent respectively. On the other hand, transportation sector index surged by 1.14 percent, agriculture sector index rose by 0.14 percent and distribution section index gained 1.53 percent. While miscellaneous sector index remained flat.
